4/5
This was a story that is quiet but speaks volumes. I am sure those who have children can understand the pain and grief.
I was not sure what to expect from this book, but it brought me to tears several times. I can never imagine the infinite pain this mother went thru. Based on a true story, I wonder did Roza really live in the woods that long without being caught ??
Shira showed her own strength in music and the yellow bird. The yellow bird stayed with her till the end of the book. That was one of the point I had tears in my eyes. After so much pain, and so much away from each other the yellow bird still showed the way.
I think this book is more about the quiet strength, and how strong someone can be even in pain. Children don't always understand the lengths a mom will go thru, just to make sure their child is safe and well.
