4/5
Let me start off by saying this is not an edge of your seat thriller mystery. It’s a mystery but It is a different kind. One about finding the past in the present. I liked it. Sometimes you just need an interesting story.
I would think it awesome to find a small vial that connects the here and now to the past. The story behind it, the people involved. And when you think it’s all done you realize it’s not. That was a pleasant moment. I also like the idea of mudlarking. Sounds intriguing and different.
What I didn’t like, she threw the vial back into the river. The one thing that connects her to the past. The one thing that made her realize her dreams, an important part of a dissertation she wants to write. I get it was supposed to be her secret, but you can keep the sect and the vial. I know I’m a sentimentalist, but really ?!? This is why it did not earn the fifth star. Also would have been nice to learn more about the secret room and items after she found them.
