Mother May I

4/5
When I started this book I didn't think it would effect me but it did. When I watch or see movies like this, and seemingly books, I get very angry. Not sure why but I do. Drives my husband nuts. I decided to keep reading. Glad I did. Very topic that needs more attention.

I liked the characters and the growth some go through. Even though it is a touchy subject and I wanted to hate the "witch" I couldn't. I may not have been in her shoes but grief does crazy things. Especially when you have nothing to loose.

This book kept me interested and I felt as if I may not have made the same decisions. Bree did well. She did what she had to do.

The ending, I thought was well done as well. Tied everything up and left no unanswered questions. This was to me a good book that was written well.

I added points for many things. Bartles and James wine coolers. Talk about a blast from you past. Nikon, Ansel Adams, Agatha Christie, and a few more. What I gave most points for ?? The way she described an autistic person who was non verbal. Not mute, non verbal.

Well worth the read

Cul-De-Sac

 3/5

Years ago, I loved Joy Fielding's books. Then through my chronic illness I was unable to read for years. I now reading again. It is different books and stories. When I saw this one I thought I would give it a go.

It was not totally bad but not like I remembered her writing to be. Her characters some I liked some I did not. Let me say one of the worst ones was the daughter who has not respect for her mother and the way she talks to her. If that was my child let's just say it would not be the same. She was one of the reasons I did not enjoy this book as much as I could have.

Then there is Dani, being a dentist, you would think she'd be a bit more smarter then she is. But when she finally wised up she did change the situation. Julia's family showed growth as well. She was probably my favorite character in this book. Olivia and Sean did not improve the story or make it worse.

It did keep me interested. Moves pretty well til the ending. Then it felt rushed. Was not a completely horrible book or a grand one. But an ok one.

I don't remember her books being like this

The Good Sister

3/5

rounded up to 3.5

Nice, easy read. No really big excited moments but a gradual turn. You see is really what by the end.

I do have an issue with the way authors do no research on the terms for deaf and HoH. In the deaf

community, the term hearing impaired is not used. It is actually not PC, but rather in insult. Hearing impaired implies that we are are broke or damaged, to which we are not. We do not need to be fixed. We are fine just the way we are, I am actually deaf proud along with most deaf that I know and are my deaf family. So please stop using the term "hearing impaired" we prefer deaf or HoH

It's started out on way and ended another. Liked how the turn was gradual and was easy enough to pick up. Interesting characters and nice pace. Definitely shows three sides to every story.

Enjoyable read. Fern, was too funny, I liked her, she kept me interested the whole way through.

A Deadly Affair

4/5

I want to thank Harper Collins Publishing for this advanced copy of this book.

Being so busy and migraines aside, I really enjoyed this book. Definitely a good read.

If you have read any Tommy and Tuppence, you will recognize their stories in this one. The Death on the Nile is not the novel but a short story that sharpies the same name.

There were plenty of different stories featuring all the great ones. Poirot, Marble, Parker Payne, and others. One of my favorites in this book was Fruitful Sunday. What to do when given a interesting choice.

If you love Agatha Christie I definitely would read this one

The Darkest Flower

3/5

Not sure what I was expecting but this is just, off the wall. I thought the characters were not that great, any of them. So that took away from the story.

I have never liked or even been in the PTA PTO, not my type of clique. The pace was somewhat slow, but I just felt not involved. I guess my old fashioned strict mom is showing its head.

The best thing the story had going going for it is who and how the murder happened, and some of the just desserts served to the ice queen.

Once Upon a Dream

3/5

Not the worst I have read, but you can definitely tell it was written for the younger audience.
It moves pretty good, but you know what is going on pretty quick and the story is about what could have happened if she never woke up.

One of the things that made it a three star, is the use of modern language in a time that is was, not sure if the saying/words where the same. I am thinking not, but also thinking this is to hold the younger audience's attention. Just one of those things that makes it just wrong.

I did like the empowerment of the female leads. Why should the man have all the privileges of making all the decisions and all the choices just because he is a man ?? Rulers can be either or. Margaret Thatcher was a brilliant example of that. Also why should ruling a kingdom by based on bloodline instead of someone who would to a great job ??

It was an interesting read buy not sure if I would read the others based solely on the one book.
