The Last Thing He Told Me

4/5

First off thank you to Simon and Schuster for the advanced copy.

This was an interesting book that was a different. I knew Owen was to good to be true, but also who basis their life on a 16 year old ?? I’m all for keeping you kid safe but to let decisions be made by them may not be the wisest thing to do.

It was an interesting that Hannah did a lot of questionable things. Some paid off while others did not. Was I fond of all the characters?? No, but I liked enough of them to enjoy the book.

The ending was not what I expected but knew somehow would happen. Proving Hanna did the right thing after all.

This was a story that touches your heart. Only takes a few hours to read. Is a quick and easy read. I was just expecting more.

I liked the story. I liked some of the format However, it tended to jump around quickly and without much warning. Then it just ends abruptly. It felt incomplete.

I also found the timeline questionable.

The characters are likable, except baby Ruth, but seemed a bit stiff.

I did like the fact it was based on real letters. Just could have been so much better.

Also, Never judge a book by its cover, is a good quote here. There was no children that needed to be sent for. It was the parents of Annelise.

The Push

4/5

First off, I would say, if you are expecting or new parents, this may not be the book for you to read right now.
"A mother's heart breaks a million ways in her lifetime"

Wow, This book went there. I liked that is was not a typical ending and life is not always a happily ever after that you expect. It also asks the age old question of nature vs nurture. I also was expecting something different then what was delivered and I truly questioned a few things. It made me think, it made me wonder, and most of all it made me grateful.

I did ask myself a couple of times why she did not punish, get help for Violet after some very troubling incidents. I would have gone against my husband but then we see Blythe's past and childhood. It was like a vicious cycle, but one that was again questions the nature vs nurture.

I like this story, and it made me see things in a new light

One by One

4/5

Alrighty, again I seem to be going against the grain with this one. Ruth Ware is a hit or miss author that I do read. This one, I liked. I liked it better then The Sanatorium.
This book does not promise a creepy atmosphere, instead, a ski resort with people ending up dead. I think this is one of her better books. I knew who the bad guy was right away but was still interested in the story, as well as the moments you were flying through the pages to find out what happens.

The characters were a variety of people which was good. I liked some and was not to thrilled with others. This is what I think she wanted, she did a good job. I did like the two main characters Danny and Erin.

I like how the story came together and how everything was related. I figured out most of the twists but there was one or two, that really made the book,

The ending, wow, what a fantastic ending. I am one who thinks an ending often makes or breaks a book. This one, definite made the book better. You get to see some of the backstory of a couple of the characters and can draw your own conclusions.

All in all, quick read, enjoyable, and great ending.

points for Carole King/Tapestry

The Maidens

4/5
I really enjoyed this one. Loved the Silent Patient, and this one was not to shabby. I do feel The Silent Patient was better.

Loved that this was based on Greek mythology. I also liked that the character had Greek roots. I do think she was a little under bright. So many things just passed right under her nose and she did not even see them. I do like she stayed determined even though she was completely wrong.

Taking place in Cambridge was a nice touch. I also like that as well.

There were a lot of red herrings and I will say I did not guess The Who or in this case the master or puppet. Liked that twist.

All in all a good read and would recommend it.

The Guest List

3/5

I was expecting more from this book. It was an ok book but not worth all the hype it’s been getting.

Not much happens till the end of the book and i had most of the twists figured out and again was not fond of the ending.

It was an ok book, definitely not a great one.

The Woman With the Blue Star

4/5
I liked this one much more then the last one of hers I read.
To me it had a 'Diary of Anne Frank' feel to it. Two families living together in close surroundings and the younger boy and the young lady fall in love. The people have to leave the safety of were they were staying, due to someone else. I did like the characters, and Sadie did show some growth through out the book.

I also liked that is was biased on true events, with changes made to suit the reader. It gave the story more of a realistic feel.

I would recommend this book, it was a fast read, kept me interested and I did like the ending. This book will be the reason why I would read another of this authors book.
