The Traitor

4/5
** spoiler alert ** I love WWII fiction history stories, as well as some biographies of those who have a story to tell from the same time era. This book did not disappoint.

I loved that Talya was not bold and brash but quiet and steadfast. Proving sometimes it’s the quiet strength that wins. She never gave up no matter how dire her situation. She was also very smart. After going to the war front as nurse she realizes just how much life can and will be different. Secrets need to stay just that, secrets. I have not heard of The White Rose, and was impressed with them and tho they may have seemed insignificant, makes you wonder just how important they really were.

Garrick was perfect example of what you expect of a Nazi soldier. He just plays his part so well and adds to the story. I went through many emotions with this book. Sad, angry and happy, just to name a few. It’s a story that will remind you why history should never be forgotten.

Definitely recommend this book.

Jar of Hearts

4/5
This one had me guessing and reguessing did she or didn’t she ?? I saw a lot of it coming was still second guessing who did what. Geo at times just seemed cold but then you see things that makes you wonder how much of what changed her ?? Especially since we get to see her at different ages or times in her life.

I really liked the different time periods and points of view. I have to admit I went thru several emotions reading this book. In the end you come away with all the answers. Good or bad, questions were answered.

Bonus points for the Dodge Neon and Merrell boots.

Definitely recommend.

“In every story, there’s a hero and a villain. Sometimes one person can be both.” Jar of Hearts
Sums it to me.

The Woman In Cabin 10

4/5
Finally one of Ruth Ware’ s book I liked. Friend kept telling e to read “the right one” of hers and I would enjoy it. This one I did. I enjoyed it. I ha e to admit the beginning started off with a bang then I was thinking maybe Lo is loosing her mind.

I had figured out some of who done what while other parts I did not. Easy enough read and kept me interested. Just need to read those pages of Lo, maybe crazy.

Loved the idea it was on a yacht and once out to sea there is not much you can do to hide or change things. The author did a great job of hiding the women in cabin ten.

An Unwanted Guest

4/5
Of all the books I have read that she wrote, this is my favorite one. Definitely has an Agatha Christie feel to it. That last little twist I saw coming but still loved it. It kept me interested and I liked the characters both good and bad. Page turner. Had to find out who did what.

The setting is just right. Several times I wanted to be warmer even though it’s about 75 degrees today. I’m not to fond all that snow and cold but made for a good story

Definitely recommend this book. Especially if you like Agatha Christie.

The Perfect Girlfriend

3.5 stars
kinda back and forth on the rating. It seemed really long in the beginning, but the ending.

That ending wow. The beginning was long and seemed to just not go anywhere but when it finally moves. I liked it. I did also like the gender switch and the fact it was taken to the airlines.

You know she’s the stalker but as you read more it’s an a ha moment. The end gave it the extra half star. I didn’t know whether to cheer for her or scold her.

Bring Me Back

4/5
This book was on my ‘to read’ pile for some time. Someone in another group was talking about this book and my curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to read this book on that recommendation.

I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fast read, that had me guessing till the end. I somewhat had an idea who did what, but not the same as book. Which is good. The ending was a good one and made you think about things such as time and who to spend it with.

I kept wanting to know what happened all those years ago. Did Finn kill her? Was she alive and hiding? So any questions that needed answers. The author delivered and delivered very well.

Everyone Brave Is Forgiven

3/5
This was another hard one for me to rate. To me it was too depressing and long. I know war is not supposed to be all rainbows and gummy bears but even the happy moments seemed depressing to me. I was not fond of either Mary or Hilda. I did like Alistar and Zackery. The racism does play a big part in this book and one of my favorite parts, through Mary Zach is taught to read and write even through his LD.

Mary does show some growth in the book, which is good, however Hilda and Mary both just didn’t impress me. Instead I found both of them to be spoiled, rich, girls.

It wasn’t a completely bad book. There were some good parts. I expected more of this book and it did not deliver.
